Long story short, I got stuck doing the Grand Rapids Mud Run on Saturday. I have never run a 5K in my life, and I’m so out of shape. In fact, I’ve put on a good 20 pounds in the last year since I went from a fairly active job to sitting in front of a computer all day.

I agreed to do this a couple of weeks ago, but didn’t really look into it too much. Today I decided to check out the website and I’m horrified. I’m not sure if I’m capable of this.

Here’s the map of the terrifying course:

Ok, it seems like it will be a bit of fun. I was always a “clean” kid in that I never liked to play in mud or get dirty, so that’ll be interesting. I’m having a dilemma of what pair of shoes to wear and get destroyed.

I’m hoping that this will inspire me to start working out more. I’ve tried the whole couch to 5K thing before, but I really hate running. The only thing that’s really worked for me in the past was when I was using the “EA Active 2” game for the Wii. It’s actually pretty good. The only issue I have with it is that it has issues with the sensors when doing floor exercises like side planks. It doesn’t register my movements properly, which is fine because let’s be honest, I can’t do those anyway. I end up moving my body around in funny positions until it thinks I’m doing it. But I pulled that out again and I’ve started up the 90 day challenge. Fingers crossed!

But if you don’t hear from me in the next few days it’s because I can’t move my body and I’m in pain. Wish me luck!
