I’m Back!

Posted by on Aug 18, 2017 in My Life | 1 comment

It has been a crazy few 6 months.

If you follow me on instagram, you’ve probably seen bits and pieces of what I’ve been up to, but here’s the gist of it.

-Back in April we ran off to New Zealand and Australia (view details on my hobbiton tour here)

-We had a couple of weekend trips to Canada to see Bastille and for a wedding.

-We roadtripped out to Minnesota for another wedding and did some fun stuff along the way

Medieval Times

-Still been reading a whole bunch, but I’m behind on my goodreads goal (noooooo!)

-We’ve already started planning our next trip to Disney in January!

-Oh yea, we’re building a new house AND are under contract on the sale of our current house. A whole lot more on that later but this has basically consumed my brain for the last 2 months of my life.

It’s all very exciting! I’m hoping to be posting more in the future. I have so many ideas for the new house, but we still have to get some things done on our current house. Stay tuned!!

Samantha Lately #5

Happy New Year everyone!! I spent my New Years with a small group of friends playing board games and Rock Band. A great way to start the new year.

But here’s what I’ve been up to lately.

The final book in Marissa Meyer’s Lunar Chronicles finally arrived In November and it was soooo good and now I’m left all alone without a a series that I love and adore. Of course, Stars Above is coming out soon which is a compilation of short stories both new and old, and there will be a wedding…. A WEDDING!!!

Star Wars

Confession time. This scifi nerd has never seen all Star Wars movies. But I don’t care, and honestly, I probably won’t bother watching the first 6 movies. But I did go see the new movie and thought it was great. It’s no Star Trek (OMFG so excited for the new movie), but it was fun. JJ Abrams is my man. Plus, kick-ass female character.

Universal/Disney World

In November Zack and I also ran off to Orlando for a 4 1/2 day marathon of 4 Disney parks and 2 Universal Parks. Pictures to come eventually.

Jane the Virgin

I’m currently binge watching the first season of this on netflix and it is adorable. I highly recommend it. It tells the story of Jane who has chosen to remain a virgin until married. One day when she goes to her doctor for her regular check up and is accidentally artificially inseminated with her boss’ baby. It sort of parodies Latin telenovelas and features multiple great characters and hilarious narration.

I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas!! I had a great day with family and was spoiled. I also scored some great books:

What have you been up to lately?

NY Metropolitan Museum

AKA my future home. Because I want to live in this place.

Anyway, it’s been almost 6 months since Zack and I went on our New York City vacation (see pics from our first night here), but more pictures are finally here!

We didn’t even plan to visit the Met when we went to New York City. We had a city pass that got us into a bunch of places, and this was one of them so we figured, why not? I was blown away. The place is huge! Our feet were dead tired by this point in the trip, so we probably didn’t get as far as we could have in a day, but I don’t know if it’s possible to see the whole place in a day on good feet.

It’s hard to put into words how amazing this place is, so pictures!

There are buildings within the building:

There are rooms and rooms and rooms of weapons and armory that are so old and beautiful:

Harry Potter Halloween Party

Posted by on Nov 22, 2015 in Holidays & Events, My Life | 3 comments

Themed parties are so much fun to throw. I become a bit of a fiend. When we decided to throw a Halloween party again this year (here’s last year’s party) I took to Pinterest. Then I discovered a Harry Potter themed party pin and I was a goner. With our (then) impending trip to Universal Studios in Orlando, Zack and I were both rereading through the HP books and watching the movies, so we were in full Potter mode.

With the help of one of my friends, I think we put together a pretty awesome party.

I started with the invites. It was just a facebook event, but I made a fun little ticket for the event header:

Hogwarts Ticket 2

First, the costumes, of course Zack and I went as Harry and Hermione.

Our friends Steve and Suzanne went as death eaters. Also, I had a time turner, here’s a selfie with it on:

I got almost all the ideas from Pinterest. You can check out my board here.

Of course, there’s no Harry Potter without a Honeydukes:

The decorations were so much fun!

I’m quite pleased with my Have You Seen This Wizard photo booth.

It was so much fun! I’ll admit that a lot of the decorations are still up, I don’t want to take them down!

I’m ready for the next themed party. I’m thinking a super hero party!

Still Alive

Posted by on Jul 19, 2015 in My Life, Website | 3 comments

Hey guys, just checking in to let you know that I’m still alive, just haven’t been in the blogging mood. I didn’t want to force myself to blog because I consider this a hobby, and didn’t want it to become a chore. Instead of hopping on the computer each evening, I’ve been sitting in front the TV binge watching anything and everything (I just finished Leverage today and I miss it already, I need more!).

But today I went and got a new laptop! Yay! My last one died a year ago and I’ve just been using my desktop. So now I’m hoping to be a lot more productive while sitting on the couch. I’ve got plenty of book reviews to write, vacation photos to share (oh, we went to NYC earlier this month!), and plenty more. You should be hearing a lot more from me, and I have lots of blogs to catch up on, so give me a little to get this laptop up and running and get caught up ;)

April in Instagram

Posted by on Jun 2, 2015 in My Life, Photography | 1 comment

I’m still alive!!! I’ve noticed that when I’m busy at work, I get really lazy at home. There’s been lots of Netflix in my life the last month. But I’m all caught up at work, there are no new people to train and my coworker isn’t out so it’s time to get some shit done.

Yes, I survived camping last week. Barely. There was a frost warning the first night and I almost froze to death and then got sick. Plus, my eink kindle died *dies* so I’m on the hunt for a new one.

Anywho, here is my April in Instagram. Yes I’m a month late. Deal with it ;)

April was actually a fun month, unlike May.
