I first read “Pride & Prejudice” back in high school, and I’ve been addicted ever since. There are so many different adaptations of the book: other books, movies, graphic novels, youtube series, etc. I’m going to share with you some of my favourite P & P things.

1. “Pride & Prejudice” 2005

I know most people are all for the Collin Firth mini series, but my cocaine is the Keira Knightley/Matthew MacFadyen version directed by Joe Wright. It is so pretty. If they could have done a full miniseries out of this, it would have been perfection.

2. “The Lizzie Bennet Diaries”

This is a youtube series that released two episodes a week for a full year. It is a modernized version that tells the story of P&P through Lizzie Bennet’s video blogs. It is so incredibly well done and a lot of fun to watch. I can’t reccommend this one enough.

Check out the first episode:

3. “Austenland” By Shannon Hale

As I said in my review of “Death Comes to Pemberley” by P.D. James, I’m not a big fan of P&P sequels, and that book was no exception. But “Austenland” tells the story of a modern day, recently divorced woman who goes to England to “Austenland” where you become your own Austen character and live the Pride & Prejudice/Jane Austen experience. Such a fun book! There’s also a second book “Midnight in Austenland”.

And it was recently turned into a movie which I unbelievably still haven’t seen.

4. “Pride & Prejudice & Zombies” By Seth Grahame-Smith

It’s P&P, but she’s a zombie killer. Hilarious. There’s a pre-quel and a sequel, but I haven’t read either. There’s also a graphic novel that I actually have, but haven’t read that version yet.

5. Lost in Austen

Another modern day retelling. This is a BBC miniseries where a P&P enthusiast finds Elizabeth Bennett in her bathroom and the two switch places via a mysterious door. Amanda finds herself in the Bennett household right at the beginning of the book. She poses as Elizabeth’s friend and manages to completely mess the story up.

It’s pretty funny, and has the creepiest Mr. Collins ever.
